Why doesn't Roomie show the title, artwork, or progress bar when I watch Netflix on Apple TV?

In short

Netflix stopped sharing what's playing. In March 2026 Netflix replaced Apple's standard video player on Apple TV with its own, and the new player doesn't report the title, artwork, or playback position. Roomie, Apple's Remote app, and the iPhone lock screen all lost it at the same time. Other apps such as Prime Video and the TV app still show full details, and Netflix control still works.

What you'll see

With Netflix playing, the Now Playing card shows that something is playing but has no title, artwork, or progress. Switch to almost any other app on the same Apple TV and the details appear normally. That contrast shows the cause is the Netflix app, not your setup.

What still works

Play, pause, the directional pad, Select, Menu, and volume all work as before. Netflix also removed the standard skip commands, so Roomie's skip buttons now press left and right on the Apple TV, which Netflix uses to jump back and forward.

Is there anything to fix?

No, there's nothing to change in Roomie or on the Apple TV. If Netflix starts reporting playback details again, Roomie will show them automatically, with no update needed. Now Showing is affected the same way: with Netflix it can't load the right poster automatically, so add artwork for films you show often to the Custom collection.
