LG TV asks to pair again after a firmware update — and no code ever appears

What changed on the TV

LG's webOS 26 update tightened which apps are allowed to register for control, and it blacklists the certificate older versions of Roomie used to introduce themselves. The TV refuses the registration outright — which is why no PIN or on-screen prompt ever appears. The request is rejected before the TV would display one.

Why the pairing sheet keeps coming back

Each time Roomie polls the TV's status it tries to re-register, is refused again, and raises the pairing sheet again. Cancel only dismisses it until the next poll, and nothing you could type would succeed, because the TV never issued a code. The loop is the symptom, not the problem.

The fix

Roomie Remote 10.5 introduces itself to the TV with a new pairing identity that current LG firmware accepts — update to 10.5 from the App Store. Update the Primary Controller first: TV commands are executed by the Primary, so updating that one device unblocks every controller in the home. Quit and reopen the app once after updating so the new identity takes effect.

What pairing looks like afterward

Newer webOS shows an Allow/Deny prompt on the TV instead of a 4-digit code — and if the TV already held a pairing from before its update, it usually re-accepts silently with no prompt at all. There is no need to delete and re-add the TV; leave the device in place and let it reconnect.
