In short

Are there any plans to support Linux as a host for this? If not then next best option for me seems to be to use an Andro — Staff replied: “I think we're done with ports for now. The platforms for this year or at least until very late 2016 are OS X, Android, and the Simple Hub.”

Are there any plans to support Linux as a host for this?

If not then next best option for me seems to be to use an Android box. Will this run on pretty much anything with a network connection or are their some requirements?

I think we're done with ports for now. The platforms for this year or at least until very late 2016 are OS X, Android, and the Simple Hub.

If we do add additional Simple Sync platforms in roughly 2017, it will be Linux based, but this year will be primarily focused on features, robustness, management, and ease of installation.

The Google Play page is probably the most up to date list of Android system requirements. At a basic level, the requirement is Android 4.4+.

Thank you.
