The PS3 is not a participant in HDMI CEC protocols (RIHD, etc.) so that is not likely to work. The only known ways to power a PS3 are Bluetooth and USB, both of which are used by a myriad of adapters out there such as the one we generally recommend for highest reliability because it takes advantage of *both* USB and Bluetooth:
