Question 2012-12 · older version

I have a vsx-53 hooked up on ethernet via a hub and the roomie isn't finding it. It does locate my Tivo that is connected through the same hub. Any suggestions?

Either the VSX is not configured properly for the network (try playing some kind of network source from the receiver to verify that's working), or your router may be blocking UPnP (which is different from the Bonjour used by TiVo).

In the router case, the usual culprits are settings on the router to "Enable UPnP" or "Enable Multicast". Specific routers have additional settings that you may find using the search feature in the forums here at right.
