When I go into edit mode on my receiver, the global cache (GC100-12) is not discovered righaway and it displays "searching" for a while. May that be causing the receiver not to power on sometimes using the serial connection?

Roomie Staff 2012-08 · older version

The "Searching" indicator isn't meaningful in that context. The GC-100-12 announces itself roughly every 60 seconds. So a searching indicator simply means Roomie is waiting for the next announcement. It has no relevance to whether communication can be established with the device.
