Question 2012-12 · older version

I'm in the process of outfitting our second room with Roomie. The receiver is a Pioneer VSX-84TXsi. It has a 9-pin RS-232 connector on the back, but the documentation from Pioneer only discusses using the serial port to connect to a PC for acoustic analysis purposes. It's unclear from what I've seen whether the presence of RS-232 connector means that it is "serial enabled" for purposes of Roomie. I am trying to decide whether to buy an iTach IP2SL or an IP2IR for this receiver. Suggestions?

Yes, that's a normal Pioneer serial model. So if you go serial, you will have very reliable two-way feedback and control with volume display, input and mode, etc. If you go infrared, you would have 1 way control.
