In short

Is the RS-232 control one way or bi directional? Does it provide volume feedback? — A member replied: “I provided the RS-232 device information to Roomie. I provided the RS-232 device information to Roomie.

The Roomie app doesn't know how to parse the zone status command format to extract the zone volume information. It has support for only specific volume formats.

Likewise, it doesn't parse other status information, so the interface is unidirectional.

I am hoping that Roomie some day opens up the API to allow users to specify to the Roomie app how to extract information like volume, source, mute status from custom device status queries.
