I think it would be great to have lighting control (in my case Lutron) within the Activity List of a particular Room. One way I can currently do this is by enabling "Show Manual Remote" on the Edit Device page. The only problem is it only allows for a single light switch to be on or off. Ideally it would be like a rocker switch - you can turn multiple light zones on (along with specific brightness level) with a button press and then turn them off with the opposite button.

This general area is a primary feature of 1.8. We're pretty certain you'll like it.

I can't wait for 1.8 I've already got lighting working within activities though; I've made scene buttons in each of my activities. http://flic.kr/p/dHFDed
