Denon DVD-5900 Serial

In short

I have a Denon DVD-5900. This device is not listed as compatible with serial control. I can control it via IR. — Staff replied: “You would need to find whether Denon ever published a serial command set for that device. If you do find such documentation, then it is likely possible to control it from Roomie.”

I have a Denon DVD-5900. This device is not listed as compatible with serial control. I can control it via IR. My question is... I would like to control it via serial as a custom device. Is there any way to easily do this by somehow obtaining the IR control set and converting it to serial? I did try the Denon blue-ray serial driver and it does not work. I guess it's worth a question here. Or, if anyone did write a custom device for this unit perhaps they can share?

You would need to find whether Denon ever published a serial command set for that device.

If you do find such documentation, then it is likely possible to control it from Roomie. We provide a DDK here to allow addition of custom serial, IP, or Infrared devices:
