This thread is a feature request from 2012, preserved from the original Roomie Remote forum. It reflects what users were asking for at the time — many requests from this era have since shipped in Roomie Remote X. See current compatibility for today's device support.
The remote system sees AppleTV's as iTunes to be controlled... — Staff replied: “The recent Apple TV update last week does cause Apple TV to misidentify itself as iTunes. We will ignore that in the next release of Roomie.”

Why can you not just co-opt the Apple Remote app and call upon it as needed?
The recent Apple TV update last week does cause Apple TV to misidentify itself as iTunes. We will ignore that in the next release of Roomie. Meanwhile, nothing has actually changed and instructions for iTunes remain the same:
