The Roomie compatibility page says feedback features with Panasonic BD players include "BD Elapsed Time, BD Total Time, BD Scrubbing Slider". Does this mean these features only apply to disc playback and definitely won't work for, say, DLNA, Netflix or Amazon Instant?

I'm also wondering if feedback support is planned (or even possible) for Sony players like the BDP-S590. Thanks!

Yes, for some inexplicable reason Panasonic BD players don't provide the progress feedback for anything other than actual BD content.

As far as we know, we're getting all possible feedback from the S590, which is just about nothing. The Sony app doesn't have any progress feedback.

The best BD players for feedback of course are Oppo.
