In short

1. No. The Apple TV is controlled via infrared and regardless Apple TV has no power commands. 2. — A member replied: “Thank you! re: #2 I did not notice that the airplay icon was displayed in the remote. Actually it appears as if the answer to #2 also partly answers #1.”

1. No. The Apple TV is controlled via infrared and regardless Apple TV has no power commands.

2. Yes, the Apple TV button is on the media bar in any iTunes Virtual Remote. We also place it on the media bar for an Apple TV device linked to iTunes in its Activity settings.

Actually it appears as if the answer to #2 also partly answers #1. By selecting living room it also appears to power on the AppleTV automatically.
