Apple TV Media Guide

In short

In 2.01 I notice that the Media Guide button is no longer displayed at the bottom for activities where no Media Guide is — Staff replied: “The Media Guide affordance with Apple TV is because the Activity generally assumes an iTunes library will be associated with the Apple TV. That would be setup by setting the iTunes Device for the Activity.”

Question 2013-10 · older version

In 2.01 I notice that the Media Guide button is no longer displayed at the bottom for activities where no Media Guide is used (TV, Receiver, etc). However, I still see the Media Guide button at the bottom of the Apple TV activity, and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. The Media Guide is always blank for Apple TV and I would prefer not to see the button for it at all. The only workaround I can find is to create a duplicate TV or receiver remote and just map the Apple TV commands to those buttons. Am I missing something? Why does the Media Guide show by default for Apple TV?

The Media Guide affordance with Apple TV is because the Activity generally assumes an iTunes library will be associated with the Apple TV. That would be setup by setting the iTunes Device for the Activity.

If that isn't set there is indeed no purpose in putting the empty guide space there so we could remove that. Each time you open it you can also of course just pan it closed.

Thank you.
